First Friends

For older adults retired and not so retired!

First Friends is our church’s vibrant ministry for older adults. Activities planned target our almost retired, just retired, and considerably retired members and friends. The ministry goal for First Friends is “to focus on the spiritual and social needs of our senior adult members, and to connect the senior adults with one another and with the church family for fellowship, service and personal growth.” We recognize that older adults approach the later years in a variety of ways, and we seek to be sensitive to the broad range of activities that might be appropriate in this ministry.

Upcoming Events:

Sunday Lunch

Thursday Luncheon/Program

Our own Sue Clark will share her family story of Cousin Fannie Battle. Fannie was a smart, well-educated school teacher at Cane Ridge when the Civil War reached Nashville, making her the perfect spy for the Confederate Army. Sue will introduce us to the real Fannie Battle, not merely the name of a daycare center in East Nashville or the name of Christmas carolers who warm our hearts with their carols.

Picnic Day Trip

Sue Clark has invited us to her farm off Burkett Road for a picnic lunch and to hear stories about Fannie Battle. Kim will pack lunches of chicken salad or ham sandwiches, chips, cookie for $6. Sue will provide drinks.
