First Friends

For older adults retired and not so retired!

First Friends is our church’s vibrant ministry for older adults. Activities planned target our almost retired, just retired, and considerably retired members and friends. The ministry goal for First Friends is “to focus on the spiritual and social needs of our senior adult members, and to connect the senior adults with one and other and with the church family for fellowship, service and personal growth.”  We recognize that older adults approach the later years in a variety of ways, and we seek to be sensitive to the broad range of activities that might be appropriate in this ministry.

Upcoming Events:
  • First Friends Sunday Lunch at Puffy Muffin
    August 19 after the 11:00 a.m. worship service.
  • First Friends Book Discussion
    August 23 at 2:00 p.m. in Memorial Library. We will discuss A Gentleman in Moscow by Amor Towles.
  • AARP Driving Class
    August 27 from 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m in Vance Hall. This class offers information on the effects of aging on driving and how you can adjust your driving accordingly. The cost is $15 for AARP members and $20 for non-members. Space is limited to 30 people. RSVP at 615-383-1815 or hospitalitycenter@fpcnashville.org.
  • First Friends Sunday Lunch at Stoney River Steakhouse
    September 16 after the 11:00 a.m. worship service. RSVP by September 16.
  • First Friends Thursday Luncheon/Program
    “Celebrating Taylor Stokes”. September 20 in Courtenay Hall. Lunch costs $6. RSVP by September 17.
  • Beginning Drawing Class
    Begins October 18. Taught by Ann Cowden Meador and Mike Sowers. Stay tuned for more information.
