First Friends

For older adults retired and not so retired!

First Friends is our church’s vibrant ministry for older adults. Activities planned target our almost retired, just retired, and considerably retired members and friends. The ministry goal for First Friends is “to focus on the spiritual and social needs of our senior adult members, and to connect the senior adults with one and other and with the church family for fellowship, service and personal growth.”  We recognize that older adults approach the later years in a variety of ways, and we seek to be sensitive to the broad range of activities that might be appropriate in this ministry.

Upcoming Events:
  • First Friends Thursday Luncheon/Program, Thursday April 18
    “Celebrating Warner Parks,” featuring speakers Bob Parrish (former superintendent of the Warner Parks) and our own Eleanor Willis (former Executive Director of Friends of Warner Parks). Buffet Lunch $6, RSVP Monday, April 15.
  • First Friends Day Trip to Warner Parks, Wednesday, April 24 (9:30 A.M. – 2:30 P.M.)
    We will tour the parks and then go to Bellevue for lunch at Crumb de la Crumb. RSVP Friday, April 19.
  • First Friends Book Club, May 23 at 2:00 P.M., in Memorial Library
    Victor Judge, Assistant Dean for Academic Affairs at Vanderbilt University, will lecture on Zora Neale Hurston’s Their Eyes Were Watching God.
  • Senior Pickleball, Fridays at 3:00 P.M. in Enrichment Center
    Recreation Director, Bryan Miller, will have courts and equipment available on Fridays in the Enrichment Center.
